Over the years Kasane has been developing fast and has lost some of its wilderness feel. The wildlife corridors allowing wildlife to the rivers has reduced dramatically as they have had to make way for people and development. There are still some lovely lodges around Kasane where they overlook the Chobe River but they no longer offer a wilderness experience and for those short of time and looking to maximise wildlife opportunities Chobe Forest Camp is an option with by far the best camping facilities in the area. The luxury tents are also on a different level to anything we have experienced in Botswana.

We had a very peaceful two night stay with the entire camp to ourselves. We saw elephants, Baboon, Buffalo, Sable, Impala and Kudu at the waterhole. The nights sounds were amazing with Spotted Hyena, Jackals and Lion calling. A leopard was even heard grunting as it approached the waterhole.

Each campsite has its own private ablutions, very well appointed, tiled bathrooms with good showers and very clean.

There is a fire plinth and braai stand, water basin, table and light in each campsite. Most are well spaced and campers have access to the viewing hide, kitted out with comfortable couches and chairs overlooking a pan which holds water.

There is a very nice pool in the camp which will be very welcome in the hotter months. The luxury tents all have small kitchens and are very well equipped. The tents are on raised decks with views of the pan or surrounding bush and are ultra – luxurious including king size beds, stone bathtub and outdoor shower. There is nothing in Botswana to compare at this price.
