Insurance coverage does not extend to off-road driving or areas with restricted access. Insurance states that the vehicles are only covered on recognized tracks. So the tracks should be noted on a map if you expect insurance to cover any damage. Driving where there is no recognized track is not covered.

Yes, but driving in off-road areas is at your own risk, and insurance does not cover damages incurred in such conditions. Recovery costs are the lessee’s responsibility.

It is strongly recommended against driving on Van Zyl’s Pass due to the very poor state of the road and lack of backup support or limited access. Land Cruiser’s are recommended for this pass.

Prior 4wd driving experience is not essential as we will give a you a briefing on arrival but we do recommend you do some research on general 4×4 driving prior to arriving.

The operation of engaging 4wd is simple and then if you drive cautiously you should be fine.

In sand you should keep your momentum through the thicker parts without speeding. Try and avoid mud and don’t cross obstacles you are not comfortable with.

There are areas we do recommend prior 4wd driving, these may include some areas of Botswana and the kaokoland in Namibia.

Vehicles are not always supplied full with fuel due to the long-range tank gauge limitations. Customers are requested to return the vehicle with the same fuel level as received, with any differences charged or refunded accordingly.

No, Bushlore provides unlimited kilometers.

The Hilux is more comfortable and fuel-efficient for road travel, while the Land Cruiser has better 4×4 capabilities and includes features like a winch and snorkel. The Hilux is a capable 4×4 but the Land Cruiser the best 4×4 available so for more rugged, daunting or remote areas the land cruiser is a better option.

The Land Cruiser comes with additional features such as a winch and front and rear diff lock. Please see the spec on the vehicles page for more detail.

Vehicles should be returned with the same amount of fuel as when picked up. Any difference will be charged or refunded accordingly.

Jerry cans are not provided because of the long range fuel tanks fitted standard in our vehicles, but they can be supplied for an additional fee if requested. It’s not recommended to carry them inside the vehicle due to spillage risk and you should only consider where you have to do very high kilometers between stops.

Yes, the roof tent comes with a built-in mosquito net, however, clients are still urged to bring their own and to consult your doctor or a travel clinic when travelling to Malaria areas, as they can give you the best advice.

In the event of a rental having to be cancelled, the following refund rates are applicable:
60 days or more notice: deposit (where applicable) refunded less 20% handling fee.
30 – 60 days: 20% cancelation fee. If total rental has been paid the balance less the 20% will be refunded.

Less than 30 days’ notice: Full rental due. 90% cancellation fee.

On rentals involving 5 or more vehicles, different cancelation terms may apply.
Rentals cancelled within 48 hours of booking will not be subject to cancelation fees.
