Yes, certain areas may be restricted due to safety concerns or insurance limitations. In general you can drive on any recognised public road or track. Please consult with our staff for details on restricted areas.

It is strongly recommended against driving on Van Zyl’s Pass due to the very poor state of the road and lack of backup support or limited access. Land Cruiser’s are recommended for this pass.

Prior experience is not essential, but Botswana does require diligent and careful driving and some experience with 4×4 operation is useful. We provide a thorough vehicle handover that takes about 2 hours, including an explanation of the vehicle, 4×4 operation, and equipment.
